Pearl is a 6 year old Pug that came to us after she was found as a stray and brought to the city shelter in Cleveland. She patiently waited for her owners to find her, but they never came, so we happily stepped up and took her in so that she could find a new, forever home!
Pearl is a wonderful little dog who truly craves human attention above all else. She will follow you all around the house and then quietly lay down wherever you are. She enjoys affection from all people, but does tend to gravitate and bond very closely with women over men. Once she is attached to "her" person, she can become a little protective of them. She has done very well with training and the establishment of rules and boundaries in her foster home, but because we know she can be a bit of a diva, we think she would do best in a dog savvy home with no children, or (even better!), a home with a woman looking for a fabulous companion and lap dog!
Pearl would do well as an only pet, or with lower energy, older dogs. She is fine with cats, but will give them the occasional chase when she's feeling spunky! She enjoys chewing on soft nylabones and loves stuffed toys. She will toss them and chase them around and just entertain herself... She is very amusing to watch!
Pearl is house and crate trained, though she really doesn't require crating. She has shown no signs of chewing or destructive behaviors, and she hasn't had any accidents in the house. (Although her foster family does crate her when they're away from home.) She rides well in the car, loves going for walks and is well mannered on leash. She knows the commands sit, down, off and wait, and comes quickly when called. She is not much of a barker and is very mellow and easy to have in the house. The only fault she really has is that she does like to raid the bathroom garbage can and shred tissues... Thankfully a can with a lid quickly and easily solves that minor issue!
Please consider making Pearl a part of your family. She's a sweet girl that's eager to be someone's cuddle buddy and forever friend! And who could resist her sweet face? We love that underbite!
Pearl is currently 23 lbs. and is spayed, microchipped, up to date on vaccines, dewormed, heartworm negative and on monthly flea/heartworm preventative. She does have a small fatty growth on her left side, but it's benign and not causing her any issues.
